Big moments

Wooooooo, how has the last quarter of the year been, you may ask… Pretty full would be the answer!

Now, the major event of the past 3 months would be the Howlong to Canberra ride, which spanned 10 days with major reach! To see the entire blow-by-blow coverage, see the blog Another Journey, but I’ll give you a brief synopsis.

The lead-up to the Howlong to Canberra ride was relatively successful, with me speaking firstly at the Prahran market, organised mainly by DJ, and secondly, by me speaking to state politicians at the Victorian House of Parliament.  I met with Danny Pearson, our local member, literally 30 minutes before writing this, and he said himself that this had a great impact, now I can't complain about that, can I?

On the trip, we managed to raise another $6,000 over the course of those 10 days. This time, though, fundraising wasn’t the target. The primary goal was to engage with Federal politicians and let them know that kids can suffer strokes too; actually, up to 520 kids can suffer a stroke per year in Australia. The second engagement with them was to seek federal funding to improve the Childhood stroke guidelines due to these being last updated in 2017, so they are well out of date! And we did get the opportunity to speak to Mark Butler and essentially ask for the funding. Now, these decisions take time, and of course, money doesn’t grow on trees!

Either way, it was a very successful trip, and another journey to add the4points.org story!

Now, what’s coming up ahead? On the 27th of March, I'm flying up to Sydney to be a guest speaker at and also enjoy the general fun, games and shenanigans of Ryan Webber’s Stroke Survivor’s event. All the details of this and how to buy tickets are on his Instagram under  paragon_fitt, so if you're a Sydney person and you're doing nothing on the Sunday, the 29th of March, between 7-12 am @ Dunningham Park, Cronulla, buy a ticket and come on down!

From there, I fly out to New Zealand for a two-week reset. Firstly, I’m catching up with some mates in Auckland and then going on an Intrepid adventure from Auckland to Wellington over 10 days. After that, I'll take a short flight to Christchurch for 3 nights, then back home to wait for Uni to start again.

Naturally, I’ll be doing a blog about my adventures and experiences on the trip, but this time the difference is I'll be travelling SOLO, scary…. Nah, not really, it’ll be a whole different thing for me, and I'm eager for it!

Stepping outside your comfort zone often leads to opportunities.

That’s enough from me!

Stay tuned for the next blog!
